Ulver
Biography
Ulver is a Norwegian band born in Oslo in 1993, whose journey is among the most fascinating in metal. Founded by vocalist Kristoffer Rygg, known as Garm, it began with a now legendary black metal trilogy: Bergtatt (1995), the all acoustic Kveldssanger (1996) and the raw Nattens madrigal (1997). Then, refusing every label, the group left metal behind to explore electronic, ambient and experimental music, as on Perdition City. That metamorphosis reached a new peak years later with The Assassination of Julius Caesar (2017), a dark and refined synthpop record. Ulver embodies total artistic freedom, moving from the glacial chaos of its origins to an unclassifiable sonic elegance, without ever losing its intensity or its sense of ceremony.
