Tool
Biography
Tool is an American progressive metal band formed in 1990 in Los Angeles, known for long compositions, intricate rhythms and an enigmatic visual world. The lineup brings together singer Maynard James Keenan, guitarist Adam Jones, drummer Danny Carey and, later, bassist Justin Chancellor. After the EP Opiate (1992) and the album Undertow (1993), the band earned critical acclaim with Aenima (1996). Lateralus (2001), laced with mathematical and spiritual motifs, is often cited as their masterpiece. After a long wait, Fear Inoculum (2019) confirmed their artistic ambition. Reclusive and perfectionist, Tool redefined the boundaries of progressive metal and cultivates an almost ritualistic relationship with its audience across sold out shows worldwide.
