Threshold

Biography

Threshold is a British progressive metal band from Surrey, England. It was formed in the late 1980s by Karl Groom, Jon Jeary, Richard West, Damian Wilson and Tony Grinham. Their style is characterized by classical Heavy Metal attributes (saturated guitars, riff overuse, guitar solos, double-kick drum pedal usage, catchy choruses) combined with epic and deliberately grandiose sonorities (keyboard pads, electronic effects, lengthy developments), possessing structural aspects specific to the complexity of progressive rock by which they were influenced. Despite an undeniable commercial approach, Threshold never really managed to break through in the English-language progressive metal landscape, relegating them to an eternal status of opening act.
