Shellac

Biography

Shellac (sometimes called Shellac of North America) is an American independent rock band from Chicago, Illinois, composed of Steve Albini (guitar and vocals), Bob Weston (bass and vocals), and Todd Trainer (drums and vocals). They are often classified in noise rock and math rock, but they describe themselves as a 'minimalist rock trio'. Shellac's sound continues in the vein of Albini's previous bands, with deliberately 'hostile' sound textures and an uncompromising attitude, notably regarding publicity around the band, which remains practically nonexistent. Shellac was formed in Chicago, Illinois, in 1992 during an informal collaboration between guitarist and producer Steve Albini and drummer Todd Trainer.
