Pulp
Biography
Pulp is a British rock band from Sheffield, England. It was formed in 1978 under the impetus of Jarvis Cocker (singer, guitarist) who was then 15 years old; he is the only member present since the beginning. Originally, the band was called Arabicus Pulp, an incomprehensible term quickly shortened to Pulp. At the time of its creation, the formation was likened to new wave, like other bands from the Sheffield music scene (Human League, etc.). However, Pulp only began to achieve fame from the mid-1990s with the album His 'N' Hers but especially Different Class, an album that became a genuine social phenomenon in the United Kingdom, based on the satirical lyrics of middle-class hero Jarvis Cocker. Their influences are Scott Walker, David Bowie, The Cure, The Beatles and The Kinks.
