Protestant
Biography
Protestantism is one of the three main denominations of Christianity, alongside Catholicism and Orthodoxy. Broadly understood, Protestantism is the totality of churches that emerged from the Reformation. Protestantism encompasses nine major movements: Adventism, Anabaptism, Anglicanism, Baptism, Calvinism, Lutheranism, Methodism, Evangelicalism, and Pentecostalism. Baptism and Pentecostalism are the primary movements forming the evangelical movement. Protestants comprise more than one third of Christians worldwide, numbering 900 million believers, of which 300 million belong to churches directly descended from the Reformation and 600 million to new Protestant churches, principally evangelical ones.
