Prong
Biography
Prong is an American industrial metal band formed in 1986. The band's sound, initially influenced by thrash metal and hardcore scenes, also incorporates elements of industrial metal from the mid-1990s onwards. As a sound engineer and doorman respectively at the New York club CBGB, Tommy Victor and Mike Kirkland formed Prong in the spring of 1986. Fans of Killing Joke and Led Zeppelin, they enlisted Ted Parsons, then drummer of the Swans. The trio performed its first concert at CBGB in September and released Primitive Origins, a self-produced first EP, at the end of 1987. During 1988, Prong signed with Epic Records and released its first album, Force Fed, on which the band's hardcore punk influences are mixed with thrash and industrial elements.
