Primordial

Biography

Primordial is an Irish black metal band from Skerries. The group was initially formed in 1987 under the name Forsaken by Pól MacAmlaigh (bassist) and Ciáran MacUiliam (guitarist). The two musicians began playing together accompanied by Pól's brother, Derek. The band thus formed, Forsaken, performed in a thrash and death metal style before moving toward black metal, foreshadowing what would become Primordial in 1991. Alan Averill (Naihmass Nemtheanga) joined the group after reading a vocalist wanted advertisement at The Sound Cellar, a metal specialist store in Dublin. Primordial oriented itself toward a black metal close to Bathory and Celtic Frost while incorporating reminiscences of the emerging Norwegian scene.
