Biography

A pest (or sometimes called 'harmful', 'destructive', 'ravager', 'vermin' or 'plague', or in France, ESOD for Species Likely to Cause Damage) is an organism whose activities, in whole or in part, have effects considered harmful by certain stakeholders for public health and/or for the proper conduct of certain human activities (agriculture, fish farming, game management, forestry, etc.). This can include plants, animals (called predators or pests), fungi or pathogenic agents. When it comes to pathogenic agents (including phytopathogens) such as parasites, the term 'pests' is used in particular. In the past, small crawling creatures were considered pests and were colloquially called vermin.
