Neil Young
Biography
Neil Young is a Canadian singer, songwriter and guitarist born in Toronto in 1945. A major figure in rock and folk rock, he made his mark with Buffalo Springfield, then Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young, while pursuing a long solo career often backed by the band Crazy Horse. His albums After the Gold Rush (1970) and Harvest (1972) are among the most notable in his discography, while Rust Never Sleeps (1979) reflects his taste for a more electric and raw rock sound. His rough guitar playing and independent attitude influenced many musicians, notably the grunge scene of the 1990s, which sometimes earned him the nickname godfather of grunge. He remains a reference point for many rock and alternative artists.
