Mütterlein

Biography

Mütterlein is a French solo project of dark wave and dark folk, originating from Brittany. The project was formed in 2014 by artist Marion Leclercq. The project was born after Marion Leclercq's departure from the Lyon-based post-hardcore band Overmars. While she wished to stop making music altogether, she started two projects that did not last, then finally decided to work with Christophe Chavanon, who owns the Kerwax studio in Brittany. Mütterlein was founded in 2014. The project's name is a reference to a track by Nico from the album Desertshore that deals with the impossible grief of the maternal bond.
