Misfits

Biography

Misfits is an American band widely seen as the pioneer of horror punk, formed in 1977 in Lodi, New Jersey, by singer Glenn Danzig. The band fused the raw energy of punk with the imagery of B movie horror films, embodied by their famous Crimson Ghost logo and devil lock hairstyles. Songs like Last Caress, Astro Zombies and Skulls became classics covered by countless bands. Their records Walk Among Us (1982) and Earth A.D. (1983) laid the foundations of horror punk. After Danzig's departure and a 1983 breakup, the iconography and influence of the Misfits lived on far beyond their original run, leaving a lasting mark on punk and metal alike.
