General Lee

Biography

General Lee is the 1969 Dodge Charger driven by Bo and Luke Duke in the American television series The Dukes of Hazzard. It is famous for the numerous stunt sequences, particularly the spectacular jumps it performed in the series, as well as in derivative films and made-for-TV movies. Its horn plays the first twelve notes of the Southern song Dixie. The car's name is a tribute to Confederate States Army General Robert Lee during the American Civil War. The idea of naming the car was already present in the series' pilot film, Moonrunners, in which the car was called "Traveller" (Traveler), after the car of famous bootlegger Jerry Rushing. Traveller was also the name of General Robert Lee's horse during the American Civil War.
