Four Tet

Biography

Four Tet, whose real name is Kieran Hebden, was born in 1977 in London and is an English folktronica composer. He launched his project in 1998 in order to distance himself from the post-rock band Fridge. Kieran Hebden was born to an Indian mother originally from South Africa and a father who was a sociology teacher. He studied at Elliott School in London, in the Putney district. It was as a guitarist that he formed, with Adem Ihan and Sam Jeffers, the post-rock band Fridge while still in secondary school. He created the Four Tet project in 1998, alongside his other band, and began inventing a genre of "ecstatic" electronic music with hip-hop, jazz and even folk influences, sampling and modifying various sounds on his computer.
