Flyleaf

Biography

Flyleaf is an American rock band from Temple, Texas, founded in 2002 and originally fronted by singer Lacey Sturm. Combining alternative metal, post-grunge and rougher edges, the group stands out for the contrast between airy melodies and its vocalist's screamed passages. Their self-titled debut album, released in 2005, found broad success on the strength of songs such as All Around Me and Fully Alive. It was followed by Memento Mori in 2009 and New Horizons in 2012. After Lacey Sturm departed, Kristen May took over vocals for a time. The band remains a reference point for female-fronted alternative rock of the 2000s, praised for its emotional intensity and heartfelt lyrics.
