Entombed
Biography
Entombed is a Swedish death metal band from Stockholm and a flagship of the Scandinavian scene. Born in 1987 as Nihilist, it became Entombed in 1989 around drummer Nicke Andersson, guitarist Alex Hellid and vocalist Lars-Goran Petrov. The band is famous for its buzzsaw guitar tone, captured at Sunlight Studio, which became the hallmark of Swedish death metal. Left Hand Path (1990) is a foundational record of the genre, followed by the equally influential Clandestine (1991). With Wolverine Blues (1993), the group helped pioneer death'n'roll, fusing crushing heaviness with rock energy. Entombed remains one of the most respected and imitated names in the entire history of death metal.
