Dope
Biography
Founded in New York in the late 1990s around the figure of Edsel Dope, the band Dope established itself within the industrial metal current tinged with nu metal. Its music is marked by heavy riffs, mechanical rhythms and a provocative aesthetic, often shot through with a healthy dose of dark humor. Their debut album, Felons and Revolutionaries (1999), marked their beginnings, followed by Life (2001). Dope also drew notice for its unexpected covers, reworking pop hits into heavy, electric versions. A regular on tours with the big names of the American metal scene, the band cultivated a dark, theatrical image. Over the years, Edsel Dope has remained the constant driving force behind the project.
