Borknagar

Biography

Borknagar is a Norwegian progressive black metal band founded in Bergen in 1995 by guitarist Oystein G. Brun. From the outset the project stood out for an ambitious approach blending extreme riffs, intricate arrangements and themes rooted in nature and the cosmos. Over the years it drew prestigious vocalists such as Garm of Ulver, ICS Vortex and later Vintersorg, enriching its sound considerably. Albums like Quintessence, Empiricism, Origin and above all Winter Thrice trace an evolution toward atmospheric, progressive metal that alternates majestic clean vocals with raw aggression. Borknagar is recognized today as one of the most inventive acts of the Nordic scene, a builder of an epic and contemplative sonic world that reaches far beyond conventional black metal.
