Thrash Metal

Biography

Anthrax is an American thrash metal band formed in 1981 in New York. A member of thrash's "Big Four" alongside Metallica, Slayer and Megadeth, they stand out for their high-octane energy and humour, driven by guitarist Scott Ian. The albums Spreading the Disease and Among the Living made them a genre benchmark. Pioneers of the rap-metal crossover with their cover of Bring the Noise alongside Public Enemy, Anthrax left a lasting mark on metal history.
