Acid Bath
Biography
Acid Bath is an American sludge metal band from Houma, Louisiana, formed in 1991. Despite a short career, it left a deep mark thanks to a unique sound blending sludge, doom, death metal and almost folk like acoustic passages. The versatile voice of singer Dax Riggs, able to shift from a scream to a fragile croon, elevated dark, poetic and often morbid lyrics. Its only two albums, When the Kite String Pops (1994) and Paegan Terrorism Tactics (1996), are now regarded as cult masterpieces of underground metal. The band broke up in 1997 after the tragic death of bassist Audie Pitre in a car accident. Acid Bath remains a legend of Southern sludge, revered far more widely than its brief run suggests.
