Minor Threat

Biography

Minor Threat is a founding band of Washington hardcore, active from 1980 to 1983 around Ian MacKaye. Despite a brief existence, it defined the sound of American hardcore and coined the notion of straight edge through its short, cutting songs. The Dischord label, co-founded by MacKaye, still carries today the independent, do-it-yourself ethic born with the band.
