Biography
Formed in Chicago in the late 1990s, SOiL belongs to the current of nu metal and muscular hard rock of the early 2000s. The band made its name with the album Scars (2001) and above all the single Halo, a track with a rallying chorus that remains their most emblematic song. Originally fronted by singer Ryan McCombs, whose raspy, powerful voice contributed greatly to their identity, SOiL established a direct, effective sound built for the stage. McCombs later joined another major band on the scene for a time, before various comings and goings within SOiL. Despite lineup changes, the band has kept up a steady career and a loyal fan base.
