Biographie

Napalm Death est un groupe anglais de grindcore originaire de la région des Midlands, véritable acte fondateur du genre. Formé en 1981, il pousse à l'extrême la vitesse, la brièveté et l'agressivité, popularisant le blast beat sous l'impulsion du batteur Mick Harris. Ses premiers albums, Scum (1987) et From Enslavement to Obliteration (1988), sont des références absolues, tandis que le morceau You Suffer entre dans les annales comme l'une des chansons les plus courtes jamais enregistrées. Depuis l'arrivée du chanteur Barney Greenway, le groupe conjugue brutalité sonore et engagement politique et social affirmé. Toujours prolifique, Napalm Death demeure la figure tutélaire du grindcore et une influence déterminante sur tout le metal extrême et le hardcore.
