Myrath

Biography

Myrath (Arabic: ميراث meaning "heritage"), originally known as X-Tazy, is a Franco-Tunisian progressive metal band formed in 2001 by guitarist Malek Ben Arbia from Ezzahra. The band is known for its blend of Arabic and Middle Eastern instruments with power metal and progressive rock. The band itself has begun to describe its genre as blazing desert metal. Guitarist Malek Ben Arbia (then thirteen years old) formed X-Tazy in 2001 with two childhood friends: Fahmi Chakroun (drums) and Oualid Issaoui (guitar), who were each fourteen years old. They subsequently recruited Zaher Ben Hamoudia on bass and Tarek Idouani on vocals. During the first two years, they played covers of blues, metal and death metal bands.
