Grave

Biography

Grave is a Swedish death metal band from Visby, on the island of Gotland, one of the founding names of the national scene. Formed in the mid-1980s and settled under this name in 1988, the group centers on guitarist and vocalist Ola Lindgren. Grave embodies the raw, cavernous Swedish sound while favoring a massive heaviness and tempos often more crawling than those of its countrymen. Its debut, Into the Grave (1991), is regarded as a genre classic, at once dark, thick and relentless. Alongside Entombed, Dismember and Unleashed, Grave belongs to the historic quartet of Swedish death metal and remains a reliable pillar of the extreme scene.
