Crazy Town
Biography
Formed in Los Angeles in the 1990s, Crazy Town grew out of the collaboration between Seth Binzer, known as Shifty Shellshock, and Bret Mazur. The band blends rap, rock and metal textures in a style typical of the genre crossover of the late 1990s. It achieved enormous worldwide success with the track Butterfly, taken from their debut album The Gift of Game (1999), which topped the charts in many countries. That hit, with its catchy chorus, remains inseparable from their name. Despite turbulent periods and breakups, Crazy Town stayed a striking symbol of the rap metal era. The death of Shifty Shellshock, the band's charismatic figure, occurred in 2024.
