1349

Biography

1349 is a Norwegian black metal band built on scorching speed and cold fury, born in Oslo in 1997. Its name recalls the year the Black Death reached Norway, a fitting emblem of death and chaos. Fronted by vocalist Ravn and driven by drummer Frost (also of Satyricon), the group perfected an almost mechanical brutality anchored in relentless blast beats. Liberation (2003) and Beyond the Apocalypse (2004) established their glacial, ferocious sound, while Hellfire (2005) cemented their standing within the Norwegian scene. Known for the sheer intensity of their live rituals, 1349 represents one of the most uncompromising and violent wings of modern black metal, refusing melody in favor of pure aggression.
