Bad Brains ist eine wegweisende Band aus Washington, 1977 von vier afroamerikanischen Musikern aus dem Jazz-Fusion gegründet. Indem sie einen rasend schnellen Hardcore-Punk mit Reggae-Ausflügen verband, getragen von der besessenen Stimme H.R.s, revolutionierte sie das Genre von ihrem Album Bad Brains (1982) bis I Against I (1986). Ihr Einfluss auf Punk, Hardcore und Alternative Metal gilt als bedeutend und dauerhaft.
