Skindred’s debut, Babylon imposed in 2004 an explosive, instantly recognizable formula: ragga metal. Born from the ashes of Dub War, the Welsh band led by the charismatic Benji Webbe blends modern metal, reggae, dancehall and electronics with disarming ease. Nobody and Pressure crack like anthems, carried by a chameleon voice shifting from Jamaican toasting to metal screaming.

Beyond its originality, the record shines through its sense of the hook and its punchy production, partly handled by the band itself. This joyful, unifying fusion would become Skindred’s live trademark. A remarkably assured first effort that lays the foundations of a solid career and an almost unique style.
