Year Of No Light

Biography

Year Of No Light is a French post-metal band formed in Bordeaux in 2001. The group began with vocals before shifting toward a largely instrumental sound built on dense, atmospheric compositions. Rooted in sludge, doom and post-rock, the band is known for its slow builds, heavy textures and cinematic scope, often performed by a lineup featuring two drummers. Its debut album Nord appeared in 2006, followed by Ausserwelt (2010) and Tocsin (2013), records that established the group within the European post-metal scene. Consolamentum was released in 2021. Over the years the band has toured widely and taken part in soundtrack style projects, becoming one of the more respected names in the French heavy underground.
