Early reviews — the album drops September 4. The Chat Pile hype isn’t coming down, and the advance reviews of Who Loves The Sun are rapturous. Exclaim! delivers the line of the season: « The fury hasn’t simply endured; it has metastasized. » Treble praises a new range, from the acoustic « October All the Time » to the grinder « PEN I S MALL », and social commentary more frontal than ever — homelessness, state violence, capitalism.
The early consensus: a refined sound that loses none of the queasy intensity that made God’s Country. Luther Manhole’s guitars « grind and convulse with greater confidence than ever » (Exclaim!).
Only lukewarm voice so far: Uncut (7/10). We’ll update the score once the aggregate fills in after release — but everything suggests America’s most unsettling band just levelled up again.
